Writing A Blog is Easy – As 1-2-3

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Okay, so you have been building your internet business.

You have chosen your niche; you’ve set up your blog page; and you might have even purchased an autoresponder and hosting account! You’re really rolling now.

Then, it hits you…a MAJOR roadblock.

You know that the best way to drive traffic to your website is to blog (and often) BUT what do you write about?

What do you say? What if it is not good enough? What if it sounds unprofessional?

What if you write something wrong and then the entire universe thinks that you are dumb?

Relax. Breath. Calm down. I have good news!

Blog writing is EASY and I can tell you exactly what you need to know! Follow these steps and you will be on your way to driving massive traffic to your website because you are bloggin’ and LOVIN’ It!

Step 1: Don’t Think Too Hard

Whatever you do, DON’T think too hard! Your blog post should be a relaxed piece of writing, similar to a personal diary entry. By this, I mean that the content should come to you without a lot (or any) research. The entry does not have to be a shinny piece of professional wirting.

Instead, it is better to be conversational. Write in the way you think. Oh, and don’t use contractions (Don’t you wish you were told that in high school?). Use basic and small words, which will keep your readers attention longer.

Make your readers eager for your future posts by being funny; use humor.

Step 2: Write About Real Life Experiences

Building a relationship with your readers is important because it turns readers into customers. When they feel that they know you, they will be more confident and likely to purchase from you in the future. Make them like you and create a relationship with your readers by telling them about your real life experiences.

Use daily events to influence how you deliver information. For example, if your niche is dog training and yesterday your dog did something really cool like came to you when you called him, talk about that event in your blog post. Relate the experience you just had with your dog to a specific niche-related technique

And remember, just because you think the information you know may be basic doesn’t mean your readers will…you are the expert after all!

Step 3: Use Simple Yet POWERFUL Technical Components

Okay, so I am sure that you know that there are lots of different technical tricks you can use to leverage your blog for search engines and to increase your “click-through” rate. Many involve HTML code writing or crafty tricks that you practically need a degree from MIT to do.

However, there is hope for those of us who are not technical geniuses.

First, keep your blog post to 300-400 words (This is another thing I bet you wish you heard in high school).

In this case, less is more!

By keeping your post short and sweet (and remember, funny too), you will engage your readers and they will not be annoyed or overwhelmed by your lengthy monologue.

Second, attract search engines to your blog by keeping your key word density level at approx. 2.0. Now, don’t get scared if you don’t know what “key word density” is. All it means is that out of the 300-400 words in your blog post, 6-8 of the words should be your key word(s). Using the example above, “dog training” could be a key word and should appear 6-8 times in each blog post.

Blog writing can be a lot of fun and is a really important part of building an internet business. By posting regularly, you can drive massive traffic to your site and make tons of sales as a result. Just remember to relax and use these 3 steps to blog everyday!

Why Blogging Is Now The #1 Internet Marketing Tool!

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Blogging is an idea that started in late 90s. It used to be a way to comment on existing webpage, a means for visitors and readers to respond to or voice one’s opinion on a particular page or subject. What began as a single-sentence commentary has evolved into pages of personal views on just about anything and everything. As it continues to grow in popularity, online advertising has invested into the blog’s potential. Here are 5 reasons why you should use blogging as an Internet marketing tool.

1. Blogging isn’t complicated. The simplest way to get your piece on the net is through blogging. No skills are necessary… an average adult can read and type, or at least click a mouse. It’s like having a virtual piece of paper and you just write your ideas, experiences, new products, and hope that the truth behind your articles comes out and entice your reader to also try your product. If you have a PC and an Internet connection (who doesn’t?) then you can blog and advertise.

2. Blogging is the real thing. In this day and age where advertising saturate our lives, we question the credibility of promoters’ claims. However, in blogs, real people share their real-life experiences, unscathed by paid advertising. Reading blogs about first-hand product use is like talking to people about their first-hand experience. You definitely want to buy a tried and tested product.

3. Blogging requires little or no expense. Because blogging is yet to be proven as a mainstream online advertising media, most sites see it as something to augment current marketing tools and thus offer it for free. Any opportunity for free webtime is definitely a bonus especially to businesses that are starting up. Needless to say, paid blog pages can generate more income for your seriously growing business.

4. Blogging establishes you identity. As you get more and more into writing your experiences on any given product or industry, your readers come to believe that they can depend on your posts for their own information source. This means, you become an expert on it; as a consequence, more readers visit your site and more bloggers link to your blogs. As companies and professional organizations notice the growth of your readership base, they may solicit you for advertising on your blog page, or invited you to become an affiliate, which pays for every referral generated from your blog.

5. Blogging grows your business. Unless you are a Hollywood star, chances are, only your Mom reads your posts. Mom has a lot of friends, so she lets her friends know how interesting your blog site is. But you need not depend on Mom to increase your readership base.

Consider the following ways you can grow your market & busines with blogging:

-By using your e-mail. Today, blogging is overcoming the e-mail’s popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market. In this age of speed and quick access, logging in and downloading e-mail is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site. Let them explore your site by using a short e-mail message as teaser to your blog site. If your e-mail is on an entirely different subject, use your e-mail signature to give a link to the site.

-By using subscription. An easy way to get your readers e-mail is to give them an opportunity to subscribe to your blogsite. Keep some exclusive information for your subscribers to entice readers to subscribe and give their e-mail address. Just be responsible in using their e-mail address, as the last thing you want is a comment on your blog that you are a spammer.

-By understanding your readers. Conduct a simple survey for your readers to understand their profile and advertising preferences. Ask consumers to give you feedback on a post, an ad link, or a trial that you shared. In this way, it is like interviewing your readers without the commitment and intrusion of a face-to-face interview.

-By joining a blog network. A network of blogs maybe a collection of blog sites that share the same industry, interest, readership base, payment mode, etc. Consumers find credibility and convenience in clicking one link to several real bloggers about a single subject. Clearly, more bloggers are better than one.

-By using RSS. RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today. As such, having RSS feeds to your blog is definitely another means of generating awareness for your readership base. Having a variety of feeds can add interest to your blog site.

-By using Social Networks like Twitter, Friendster, Facebook to name a few. This is a great way to make people aware of your blog and you new posts. Most of these have apps that you can install on your blog that will ping a url link to your newest post.

Give your business a shot in the arm by using blogging as an Internet marketing tool.

The Right Blogging Program For Your Niche

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Choosing which blogging platform to use is one of the most important decisions that you can make as a blogger. The right platform can make blogging a breeze, and the wrong platform can make blogging a chore. Because the program that you use to blog with is such a powerful part of your blogging experience, it is well worth putting in the time to find a platform that provides your ideal balance between a user-friendly interface and a flexible framework that allows you to make your blog look and feel unique. Finding the right platform isn’t always easy, but with a little bit of contemplation and a little bit of research, you will be on your way to finding the perfect blogging platform.

Deciding what your priorities are in terms of ease of use versus customization. Most highly customizable blogging platforms, like moveable type, are a bit more difficult to use than very automated programs like wordpress. If you are new to blogs and to internet technology, you might want to sacrifice the ability to create a custom background design or to integrate a unique font into your template in order to find a program that will be easy for you to use. On the other hand, if you are a veteran web designer with knowledge of html or javascript, you will probably find the limitations of a user-friendly platform to be frustrating. It really is helpful if you’re a newbie to blogging to invest in a blogging course that gives step by step instructions. My Favorite one is Blogging to the Bank. Another good one is is Become A Blogger (bab) which also gives video step by step teaching.

There is no such thing as a blogging platform that is objectively the best one, because every blogger has unique needs. The blogging movement is very much about individuality, so it makes plenty of sense that there would be many different platforms available that are designed to meet the needs of different kinds of individuals undertaking different kinds of projects. This diversity is a good thing, because it means that you will almost certainly be able to find a program that suits your level of technical aptitude.

However, the fact that no two bloggers need the same thing from a blogging platform can make your search for the right platform a bit tricky. When you are reading reviews of different programs, try to keep your priorities in mind and do your best to take into account the position that the reviewer is coming from. For example, a negative review written by an accomplished software designer who complains that a popular platform is too limited may tell you that the platform in question is ideal for a beginning blogger. There is no such thing as the perfect platform for everybody, so instead of looking for the “best” platform, look for the best platform for your specific criteria.

Happy Blogging!
